Job tasks
Solid- and hollow-core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) or microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) have led to significant advancements in fiber optics since their first demonstration in 1996. In recent years, PCFs have been successfully used for applications such as nonlinear optical frequency conversion, low-loss light transmission, high-power laser delivery, sensing, imaging, and micro-to-nano manipulations.
The Fiber Fabrication Group at RCALS is looking for enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers with expertise in fiber optics to explore several research topics, including:
1. Novel Waveguide Structures: Developing new designs for waveguides to improve their performance.
2. Low-Loss and High Mode Purity Fibers: Focusing on reducing losses and improving modal purity in hollow-core fibers.
3. Ultrafast Pulse Delivery: Researching how to effectively transmit ultrafast pulses through hollow-core PCFs with desired pulse manipulation.
4. Enhanced Nonlinear Frequency Generation: Improving the generation of -short or -long wavelengths in PCFs to advance laser technology.
5. Sensing Applications: Using hollow-core PCFs for sensitive chemical and biological sensing.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Fiber optics
Nonlinear fiber optics
Ultrafast optics
Optical materials
Fiber sensing
Postdoctoral researchers will also have the chance to supervise master's and PhD students, contributing to training the next generation of researchers.
These positions offer a great opportunity to engage in innovative fiber optics research and make meaningful contributions to the field. Interested candidates should highlight their relevant experience and passion for the research topics.
Benefits
Postdoctoral researchers will receive generous compensation, as well as assistance with the costs of accommodation and travel. After a 2-month probationary period, contracts may be extended to a total of 27 months, following a successful performance evaluation.
