Expertise
RCALS is keen to attract people with a broad range of different expertise and an interest in branching out into new areas. We are particularly seeking those with experimental and theoretical expertise in:
• Waveguide/fibre optics
• Nonlinear optics
• Ultrafast lasers
• Glass materials
• Optical sensing and imaging
Student scholarships
In addition to the basic benefits for all students (40,000-60,000 CNY/year for Ph.D. students and 12,000-30,000 CNY/year for masters students), RCALS offers of generous scholarships for outstanding students:
Government Scholarships: These are intended for international students joining RCALS.
RCALS Scholarships: Offered internally by RCALS, these scholarships offer up to a maximum 100,000 CNY/year (highest grade).

Funding opportunities
RCALS offers generous funding to postdoctoral researchers (less than 3 years after Ph.D. degree is granted) who would like to start a new research project at RCALS. The basic salary is 400,000+ CNY/year.
Funding for senior scientists and principal investigators
Outstanding scientists with novel ideas who are interested in starting an independent research group are encouraged to contact us. RCALS can offer advice and assistance in applying for national/local government funding.
