We warmly welcome Dr. Xinyang LIU to RCALS as a postdoctoral scientist. He got his Doctor of Science (Technology) degree in 2024 from Tampere University, Finland. He has research experience on ultrafast fiber laser, solid-state laser and machine learning.
“Communication between interdisciplinary topics or ideas can definitely spark more research directions and opportunities. Just like the concept of photonics crystal fiber, which is a combination between photonics crystal structure and optical fiber, mixing one’s knowledge with another field may lead to further scientific advancement and benefit the whole humanity.”
In his PhD, Dr. LIU gained experimental skills of building and characterizing ultrafast mode-locked fiber lasers in Yb-doped 1 μm and Tm-doped 1.7 μm to 2 μm wavelength bands. He also learned the skills in numerically simulating fiber laser cavities and implementing neural network algorithm to solve regression problems.
“RCALS is a brand-new research center with excellent facilities and friendly environment. I am very pleased to join the big team to advance our careers together.”
