Dr. Sabahat Shaheen

Sabahat undertook bachelor studies in electrical engineering specialised in telecom, back in 2005 in Pakistan. After graduating, she worked for 5 years in the industry where she performed technical and managerial roles.

In 2014, she moved to Europe to undertake an Erasmus masters in photonic networks from Italy and UK.

After the masters, between 2018-20, she researched specialty optical fibre design in Spain, where she designed a multicore photonic crystal fiber with the help of advanced finite-element simulations, and carried out its cross-talk and nonlinearity analysis.

From 2021-24, she did a PhD on distributed fibre optic sensors from Germany where she developed a novel fiber optic sensing scheme based on the use of topological phase. After the PhD, she worked as a technician for 8 months in a fiber fabrication cleanroom.
